
The Martin Luther King, Jr. Family Outreach Center improves the quality of life for children, youth and families in Spokane through an array of culturally responsive educational and social services within the framework of Dr. King's vision of equal respect, treatment and accessibility for all people.
To achieve this mission, the Center:
- Provides an East Central Spokane resource center and playground for neighborhood families
- Fosters strong families through innovative parent education programs on site and in home visitation throughout the greater Spokane area
- Provides state funded ECEAP preschool programs free to income eligible parents
- Offers childcare support for working families by providing quality, affordable after school and summer programs for children, youth and teens
- Fosters youth development and job skills through teen leadership programs
- Delivers relationship-based family support services from the context of honoring cultural diversity
- Encourages community involvement by providing individual and corporate volunteer opportunities and active donor membership
- Recruits and maintains culturally and ethnically diverse staff and volunteers to promote the values of Dr. King.
